I didn’t expect much of this film, as in my experience porn which tries to replicate ’straight’ films or TV is often lazy and unconvincing. Baywatch, with it’s famous red swimsuits, semi-naked people in the sun and surf meant it would have been easy for this film to take the setting and throw in some sex and leave it at that. But director Jim Powers does so much more, giving us a great film with a perfect balance of plot and red-hot action.
The plot follows the goings-on at the Babewatch lifeguard station on Venice Beach, California, as a new commander gets his feet under the desk and the station starts a program to train new recruits. Asia Carerra, TJ Cummings and Stevie are the lifeguards under new commander Alec Metro, with Steven St Croix drafted in from another station to help with the training. The new recruits are Billy Glide, Sky Taylor and Tina Cheri, while Kylie Ireland plays Billy’s sister, Brick Majors his competitive friend and Keri Windsor his lover.
Not too much time is spend on explaining this plot however - the focus is on hot sex. The opening scene sees Asia Carerra - looking her best ever - and Steven waking in bed in their apartment by the beach, Steven gently stroking and arousing Asia out of sleep, slowly and methodically licking her pierced pussy lips. Once awake she returns the favour enthusiastically before they have a passionate good-morning fuck. She leaves for work not knowing Steven is joining her lifeguard team as the new recruit teacher - something she’s not happy about later.
We see the team at the lifeguard station disciplined by new commander Alec for lax security. The acting is better than in a lot of porn, sufficiently tongue-in-cheek without being totally hammed-up. We’re most interested in tongues elsewhere though aren’t we, and soon we get to see Keri Windsor running hers down Billy Glide’s long dick as his yacht sails though the harbour. Just after he’s shot over her face, Brick turns up, causing Keri to shout and swear and their lack of privacy. Steven gets the new recruits running and exercising on the beach next, so we get to watch Sky’s and Tina’s assets bouncing all over the screen, barely contained by their red swimsuits. In the meantime Stevie is told her promotion has been denied by boss Alec, and decides to seduce him into reconsidering. There’s something strangely sexy about Stevie, with her super-toned muscular figure and quite masculine face. She soon has Alec’s cock out of his lifeguard shorts despite his initial protests. We don’t get to see who wins the bet, as the next day at training tragedy strikes, and then ‘to be continued’ flashes up on the screen…
This film is only one hour 20 minutes, and maybe they should have made it one long film instead of splitting it into two parts, but it’s solid quality and all the scenes are hot. There isn’t that much variety in the sex - boy-girl and girl-girl scenes, with no anal or group scenes - but the guys are all fit and the girls are beautiful and varied (although all have breast implants). The chemistry and enthusiasm of the performers is great, with plenty of ad-libbed comments. I can’t wait to see the second part; if only because TJ Cummings didn’t get any action in this first part, and I want to see what’s inside those lifeguard shorts…
